• First, the material is carefully selected. Following tradition, maple or linden wood is used. The wood must be completely dried before further processing.
• The dried wood is then handed to a turner, who creates two halves of the ball, hollows them out, and joins them together to ensure a perfect fit. Shaping the wood requires a skilled master who is well-versed in working with wood.
• Next, the wooden ball is passed into the hands of a Ukrainian artist. Petrykivka painting is a part of Ukraine's cultural heritage. Originally originating in a small Ukrainian village, this painting technique was inscribed into UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013.
• Each master has their own style and paints the figures and decorations in their individual and highly creative way. Gouache colors on honey-based paints are used for this purpose.
